Uses: It is used as a deicer on parking lots, sidewalks and roads. It is used as a dust control agent on unpaved surfaces. It is also an additive to foods however the ingestion of pure or concentrated calcium chloride products can cause ulceration or gastrointestinal irritation. Calcium Chloride is easily dissociated in water which forms calcium and chloride ions. Calcium is critical in the formation of skeletons, muscle contractions, neural transmission and the coagulation of the blood.
Calcium Chloride helps to promote algae as well as higher plant growth. Chloride ions are important in the normal cellular operation in humans and other animals. It also serves as a micronutrient for plants, as it plays an important role in osmoregulation and photosynthesis. Calcium chloride is considered almost totally non-toxic to aquatic organisms. Bioaccumulation is unlikely.
It can also be used as brine for refrigeration plants.

Storage Directions: Keep in a tightly closed container and store in a cool, ventilated and dry area. Can corrode steel and when exposed to the air it will absorb water and will form a solution.
Cautions: Irritating to the skin, especially moist skin. If dry calcium chloride pellets are ingested burns can result in the mouth and esophagus.
