Botanical Name: Juniperus ashei
Plant Description: This tree is a small alpine evergreen that can grow up to 20 feet in height. It grows green, stiff needles and has a trunk that is irregular in shape. It is native to Central America and the southwestern USA. The area where the essential oil is mainly produced is in Texas.
Origin: Canada
Extraction Method: Steam distillation of the wood.
Color: It ranges from colorless to pale yellow.

Aromatic Fragrance: Strong. It contains a balsamic pencil wood scent that is sweet. It is similar to the Virginian Cedarwood but is less harsh.
Common Applications: It can be used to help alleviate congestion, bronchitis, coughs, acne, circulation problems, cystitis, eczema, dandruff, catarrh, greasy hair, oily skin, sinusitis and water retention. It is considered an antiseptic, astringent, antispasmodic and a diuretic. It can also be used as an insect repellant. It has similar uses to the Virginian Cedarwood.
History: The native Indians of New Mexico used Cedarwood oil for rheumatism, skin rashes and arthritis.
Storage Directions: Cedarwood Texas Essential Oil should be stored in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. Essential Oils should be stored in colored glass, the most common storage method being used today are Boston Round Bottles in the amber tint.
Blends Well With: Calamus, costus, bergamot, rosewood, labdanum, clary sage, juniper, mimosa, rosemary, vetiver, neroli, jasmine, cypress, boronia and olibanum.
Cautions: May irritate sensitive skin. Avoid if pregnant. For external use only.
