Uses: Germall Plus Liquid is used in lotions, conditioners, shampoos, creams, body washes and body sprays amongst other cosmetic formulations. Germall Liquid Plus is a water soluble preservative for water in oil and oil in water emulsions and water soluble formulations and is very effective at preventing the growth of gram positive and gram negative bacteria, molds, fungus, yeasts and commonly found organisms.

It works well at inhibiting the growth of these organisms at extremely low concentrations and because of this is considered very cost effective. It works well with most cosmetic ingredients, has no known inactivating counterpart ingredients and can be used in most surfactant formulations. The use level amounts is .1% - .5% of total weight formulation. It is also soluble in cationic, anionic and nonionic water soluble formulation. It should be added in a recipe when the mixture has cooled down to at least 50 C or below.

Recipe/Process: Creamy Full Face & Body Lotion

• 75 grams apricot kernel oil
• 5.0 grams aloe vera gel
• 50 grams almond oil
• 2.5 grams citric acid
• 25 grams stearic acid
• 40 grams polowax
• 25 grams castor oil
• 22.5 grams glycerin
• 750 grams water
• 3 grams Germall Plus
• 2 grams fragrance

Combine and mix all of the ingredients together, except the Germall Plus and the fragrance oil, in a Pyrex container or a double boiler. Heat until all of the waxes have melted and there are no solidified pieces in the pot. When all of the waxes have fully melted, remove from heat. Stir with a stick blender and allow to cool until you can no longer see any steam. When the mixture becomes lukewarm and cools below 50 C, mix in the Germall Plus and the fragrance oil, stirring them in thoroughly. Use a hand blender and mix using short bursts of power. Mix the ingredients thoroughly. Pour the mixture into bottles and if you would personally prefer colored lotion, you can add in the color when the lotion base becomes lukewarm.

Odor: Mild

Natural: Germall Plus Liquid is a synthetically made preservative but contains no parabens like Germaben II. It is composed of diazolidinyl Urea, 3-Iodo-2-propylbutylcarbarmate and less than 1% propylene glycol.

Shelf Life: Stable

Storage Directions: Store in a dry, cool area, out of direct sunlight.

Cautions: Not suitable to use in lip products. For external use only.
