  • Extraction: The Cocoa Beans are harvested, the pods opened and allowed to ferment, then spread out to dry. They are then roasted and the other shell is cracked and opened to exact the inner part of the bean (the nib). This process is called winnowing. The nibs are ground which results in a cocoa mass. This mass is then pressed to separate the cocoa solids from the cocoa butter. The butter is allowed to solidify and is packaged.

I just started making lotion and I used this Cocoa Butter as one of the ingredients and I love it. It's refined, but it still kind of has the yummy cocoa butter scent to it (you can't notice it once it is in the lotion though). I took a little piece and melted it in my hand and i would almost even just use this alone as a moisturizer! It is great stuff at an even greater price!
This works great from bars to balms. Light hint of coconut but not enough to overpower your added scents or flavors. Feels great on the skin!
I purchased the refined cocoa butter for making whipped body butters. It combines so nicely with other butters from Soapgoods to make a smooth product. I like the refined cocoa butter because it doesn't have a strong "chocolate" fragrance that interferes with added fragrance oils. It feels great on my skin and I really like using this product.
