Uses: When used in the bath, Dead Sea Salt can be used for treating skin ailments as well as simply helping to induce relaxation. Bath salts from the Dead Sea can be purchased in its original pure form or can come in a variety of colors, scents and sizes, or mixed with essential oils. It can be used to help alleviate skin ailments such as eczema and psoriasis. The minerals that the Dead Sea Salt contains helped to relieve muscular pain, regulates cell functioning and activity and helps to stabilize fluid levels in the body. The salt, due to its coarseness can also be used as a scrub or exfoliant and can be used in conjunction with Epsom salts. Dead Sea Salt Fine, which has the consistency of table salt, can also be used as a scrub.

Recipe/Process: Dead Sea Salt Scrub and Soak

Ingredients:
  • 3 tsp raw honey
  • 2 cups Dead Sea Salt
  • 6 drops Grapefruit Pink
  • 6 drops of Mandarin

In a small bowl, combine and mix the honey and the oils into the Dead Sea Salt. Make your bathwater, but not too hot or you will become sedated and not refreshed. Stand in the bath and taking a handful of the salt, scrub your body all over. Allow the mixture fall into the bathwater. Soak for no longer than 20 minutes because this bath mixture is meant to rejuvenate. Afterwards you can massage Jojoba oil into your entire body along with your preferred essential oil and let the oils absorb into your skin.

Odor: Salty or bland.

Natural: Dead Sea Salt cannot be consumed and has a low sodium content but a very high presence of minerals. These minerals are present within the skin cells but often becomes depleted and this can cause dull, dry and wrinkled skin. When these minerals are fed back to the skin, the vitality of the skin returns. The Dead Sea Salt is far richer in these minerals than regular sea water and is the saltiest water body in the world. It has a concentration of 32% in minerals while other seas contain only 3%. The minerals that Dead Sea Salt contains include Bromine, Potassium Magnesium, Sodium and Calcium. Due to this very high salt content, nothing can live in the sea, neither fish nor plants and that is why it is called the Dead Sea.

As a licensed esthetician (skin care specialist) in WA state I don't recommend using dead sea salt as a facial scrub due to it being extremely abrasive to your skin it will literally begin to damage the skin on your face with continued use. Use sugar as a softer substitute for a facial exfoliation. Dead sea salt is great as a BODY scrub or as a BODY soak. Please do not use it for the face.

Does anyone know if this is an actual dead sea salt from the 'Dead Sea'..bc not one description in the details of the product states where the origins of this salt is from..a simple at-home test will determine if this is genuine dead sea salt or regular, overpriced salt...

The granules are pretty big. I wasn't sure what I was looking for, but I thought I was getting salt that might be dual soak and scrub. These granules don't work well for the "scrub" part. They will make an excellent soak though.

Oh my goodnes! I LOVE this salt. I use it as a treatment in the bath once a week and when I step out, I am sooo relaxed and ready to sleep. I also add a fragrant oil or Jojoba oil for additional moisture.
